This course provides a comprehensive framework for evaluating thoracic imaging to diagnose complex chest conditions. Through a systematic, case-based approach across seven course sections, learners master pattern recognition for lung, airway, pleural, chest wall, and mediastinal diseases. Participants gain hands-on technical proficiency in using DICOM image-review techniques to examine scans independently, while learning to incorporate critical diagnostic caveats into clinical decision-making to accurately address challenging cases. To fully participate, attendees must bring a laptop or tablet to review cases and submit their diagnoses during the workshop. Smartphones cannot be used to view cases during the sessions.

The acute abdomen drives the largest share of emergency imaging volume and a substantial share of diagnostic error. This course gives a structured, organ-system approach to nontraumatic abdominal and pelvic emergencies — bowel, vascular, hepatobiliary and pancreatic, and obstetric — emphasizing the findings that separate a surgical emergency from its far more common mimics.
